Most read-only activities with regard to datasets and their records are available to all users (though these permissions are highly configurable). Standard activities open to all users include:
Simply pick the appropriate tool from the Tools listing section to invoke these functions.
For additional functionality, you must both have the appropriate permission rights to a specific dataset and to have joined that dataset group.
Joining a Dataset
Creation, updating or deletion rights generally require you to be:
- Logged in as a registered user
- Have appropriate permissions for a given dataset, and
- Have registered yourself with that dataset.
Generally, permissions are more restrictive for datasets than they are for instance records. For example, the most restricted function is generally deleting a full dataset.
Assuming that you are a registered user and have logged in, you register yourself ("join") a specific dataset by:
- Pick the Datasets tool
- Scroll to the bottom of the listing and then Join a new dataset
- Then, pick the Join link for your desired datasets.
You can then pick the Datasets tool again to see the dataset-level permissions you now have for your registered datasets. See more under the Datasets instructions.
